How to Write a Killer Cover Letter Conclusion

So you’ve introduced yourself, presented your best, most relevant qualifications in a compelling way, and are nearly finished with the cover letter. How do you make sure that you have a slam dunk of a conclusion? Incorporating these strategies can help you have a strong ending that leaves the employer wanting to meet you immediately.

Try a direct approach.

A direct closing is a powerful way to end a cover letter. Instead of waiting for the office to contact you, include a date and time when you will call to follow up on your application. The trick with this conclusion is to make sure you follow up when you say you will! Otherwise, the employer may think you are unreliable or forgetful – probably not the impression you want to give.

Include your phone number and email address.

If you are not able to try a direct approach, be sure to re-state your contact information. Your contact information is located at the top of your cover letter already, but including it at the bottom can give the employer that extra push to contact you.

Ask for the interview.

Avoid using phrases like “I hope to hear from you” or “I believe/feel/think I would be a good fit.” Instead, ask the hiring manager for an interview by saying something like, “I look forward to meeting with you to further discuss my qualifications.” This call to action sounds far more confident and reads better!

Try out these strategies and see how they work for you! You may find that you receive more responses to your letters.
